Lydia Jazmine out to 'break' concert stage with 'First Born'

Few would believe it because the name and the personality have been in our faces long enough for an era to end but Jazmine has intimated that she had to hold plans until the time was right.

KAMPALA | After almost nine years in the music industry, Lydia Jazmine is finally set and steady for a maiden concert.

Few would believe it because the name and the personality have been in our faces long enough for an era to end but Jazmine has intimated that she had to hold plans until the time was right.

And now is that time.

The diva disclosed this while on "Sanyuka Bigenda Bitya" programme hosted by Annatalia Oze where they had a heart-to-heart on her musical and life journey, one of the activities ahead of her maiden concert a Hotel Africana titled, "First Born Concert on Saturday.

Jazmine says you can be a musician and be passionate about your style and direction but necessity entails that one studies the market and produces the music that the audience wants.

"My concert is going to be different and unusual," she said.

"The performers have also been briefed that it will not be business unusual."

Revealing a little more, Jazmine said she wants to have time with her fans and showcase herself, entirely.

"I will be on stage by 8:30 pm," she said.

Up-close and personal, Jazmine speaks of her adopted child, Maria Mata. She encountered her during one of her charity activities near Jinja years back.

"She is not an orphan, her parents are alive but they experience some economic challenges given the number of children they have," she revealed.

"With approval of the parents, I adopted Maria Mata, a vibrant, lovely and outstanding girl. She usually comes home for the holiday but also maintains a connection with her biological family."

On the rumours that keep circulating about her life, Jazmine said she doesn't pay attention.

Among the rumours is that Jazmine and Eddy Kenzo have been an item but she says she is a brand that is susceptible to rumours.

"Over time have an impact and in a way, just like the human beings, they are have an effect," she said.

Kenzo, she revealed, is a long-time friend and has helped instil confidence in herself.

"Eddy Kenzo is a social person and has many friends. Many of them are likely to be mistaken and be seen in a different light," says the singer who says she speaks with Kenzo's ex-baby mama Rema.

"I respect people and I respect people's relationships. I love children, I love family and hope to start my own someday. 'I'm the kind of person who even if we fell out, I genuinely wish the other person well. You will find me talking to my exes because I move on quite well."

Jazmine's sense of fashion cannot be overstated. She not only wants to do good music for the fans but also wants to look good for them.

"I was very good in class and I look forward to starting an initiative that encourages people to study and stay in school," she says. "Being a musician doesn't mean they should be unschooled."

Jazmine's "First Born Concert" has received massive support from her fellow artists and collaborators, what now awaits are the lights, camera and action.
